GearInchy – Android app for calculating your gear inch

February 10th, 2011 | Android, Fun, Geekery, Tech | Tim Heyes

GearInchy

In a bit of down time “Action Man” (Adam Maloney), one of our lead developers, has knocked up a native Android application for calculating your bikes gear inch:

“Gear inches is a system that assigns numerical measurements to bicycle gear ratios, to indicate how low or high a gear is.
This app will help you calculate your bikes gear inch by simply entering wheel, chainring and cog sizes.”

A useful tool for us Android carrying, fixed gear riding techies!

Grab it for free here, here or here

Cancer Research 10k

October 21st, 2010 | Company, Fun | Adam Maloney

Last Sunday, in the glorious sunshine, 3 Skinker-ites and a Livestation-er along with three and a half thousand others ran the Cancer Research UK 10k around Victoria Park in London.

Thanks to some super fund raising, we have hit our £1000 target and then some.

Naturally, being a little geeky I was tracking my run using endomondo‘s excellent android app. You can check out the twisty route here.

oh, and it’s not too late to donate for our efforts

Game time, Skinkers update & SkinkersLabs sneak peak…

September 27th, 2010 | Company, Fun, Games | Tim Heyes

It’s been a while since we’ve posted up here because we’ve had a lot on our plates over the past couple of weeks. This is just some of the stuff we’ve been up to…

We’re soon to go live with our new site which will also include a new design for the blog, we’ve finished off a large piece of work for the BBC, pitched for and won a VERY exciting project for one of our large US customers (details to follow soon) and we’ve been getting ready to launch our SkinkersLabs project.

As we’ve always said, we really do have some awesome talent in our creative and technical teams here so to celebrate this and the fact that we’re already seeing Christmas goods in the shops, we thought we’d resurrect one of our Christmas classics so you can lose yourselves for a while.

Just click the image below to defeat the Evil Santas, Reindeer and Snowmen with your snowball catapult. Of course.

Christmas Game

This is the first of many projects, old and new that will be hitting SkinkersLabs very soon, so stay tuned for updates.

Barclays Cycle Hire scheme – our first look

July 30th, 2010 | Fun, Geekery | Tim Heyes

This afternoon, a couple of us decided it would be a good idea to try out London’s new cycle hire scheme and take out one of the “Boris Bikes”.

On bikes

Naturally, we had to add a small element of geekery to this process and try out the apps that are currently available to help with the hire process. These are mainly aimed at helping you to find the cycle stations nearest to you, but some give you information about how many bikes are available at a given station.

Day in the life of an AT-AT

July 1st, 2010 | Fun | Tim Heyes

We had to post this lovely video by Patrick Boivin chronicling a day in the life of an AT-AT as a dog. Particularly like the Jabba the Hutt poo.
